🏛 Restore the Reputation of BenPoly, Ochi’Idoma Tasks Polytechnic Management

Otukpo, Friday, October 10, 2025 – The Ochi’Idoma, HRM Agabaidu John Elaigwu Odogbo, has charged the Rector and top management team of Benue State Polytechnic, Ugbokolo, to work diligently and implement sustainable initiatives aimed at restoring the reputation of the institution.

📜 A Visit to the Palace

The charge was delivered during a courtesy visit by the Polytechnic leadership, led by Rector Arc. Dr. Henry Ojobo, to the Ochi’Idoma’s palace in Otukpo.

Acknowledging the institution’s contributions to knowledge and community development over the decades, the Paramount Ruler described Benue State Polytechnic as a beacon of learning.

“Leadership in education is not a privilege but a sacred duty of service,” he emphasized. He encouraged the Rector to take bold steps to ensure:

  • “Full academic standards and discipline mechanisms”
  • “Rebuilding of clean and well-secured infrastructural facilities
  • “Restoration of innovation, technical skills, and moral values

He further highlighted the security challenges facing the Polytechnic and urged collaboration with community leaders, stakeholders, and youth to mitigate such issues.

While congratulating the Rector on his appointment, the Ochi’Idoma reminded him of the legacies he will be remembered for and urged him and his team to lead with vision, fairness, inclusiveness, justice, transparency, and the fear of God.

He pledged the continued support of the traditional institution, blessing the Polytechnic leadership to work effectively for the good of the institution, the state, and the nation.

🙏 Rector’s Response and Leadership Initiatives

In his opening remarks, Arc. Dr. Ojobo expressed gratitude to the Ochi’Idoma and his council for hosting the visit. He apologized for missing the initially scheduled date, citing unforeseen circumstances beyond his control.

The Rector explained that the visit was part of his leadership initiative to foster collaboration with key stakeholders, seek blessings, counsel, prayers, and ensure teamwork for effective service delivery.

He highlighted key achievements in his first six months in office, including:

  • Restoration of peace in the school
  • Digitization of institutional processes
  • Restoration of water works
  • Organization of a peaceful and hitch-free Student Matriculation Ceremony
  • Hosting of the Rector’s Football Tournament
  • Improvement of staff welfare
  • Tackling theft, examination result/certificate forgery, and other corrupt practices

Dr. Ojobo attributed the progress in security to the support of community leaders and solicited the Ochi’Idoma’s continued collaboration to achieve further institutional goals.
